Registration Opens for Winter Youth, Teen Sports Basketball, Volleyball Programs Available
Registration opens on October 15 for Winter Youth and Teen Sports Programs in the City of Gaithersburg. Winter programs are offered in basketball and volleyball, with most leagues having just one practice and one game per week, allowing youth and their families time for other activities. Start Smart™ programs only meet one time per week.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and some programs have limited space. The registration deadline is November 17. The City cannot guarantee entry into a program for registrations received after the deadline. Register online and view complete program details at www.gaithersburgmd.gov/sports, or visit the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 South Frederick Avenue next to Gaithersburg High School.
Fees for the youth programs are $50 per City resident and $65 for nonresidents. Fees for the teen programs are $55 per City resident and $70 for nonresidents.
In addition to being available online, registration for City of Gaithersburg Winter Youth and Teen Sports Programs will also be held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Store in Washingtonian Center on Thursday, November 10 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Special discounts on equipment and apparel will be available for participants that evening.
Winter Youth and Teen Sports offerings include:
§ Start Smart™ Basketball for Youth Ages 4 & 5 and Their Parents (limited to first 20 registrants)
§ Hoop Dreams for Grades Kindergarten - 2
§ Girls Basketball for Grades 3-6
§ Boys Basketball for Grades 3-6
§ Teen Basketball for Grades 7-8
§ Teen Volleyball for Grades 6-12
The City is also seeking volunteer coaches for these sports programs. Gaithersburg certifies all coaches through the National Youth Sport Coaches Accreditation Program. Background checks will be conducted. See the sports registration form for details, or call 301-258-6350.
