In celebration of Montgomery County’s 25th annual Community Service Day this year, the event is expanding to Community Service Week with a goal of attracting 25,000 volunteers. The week kicks off on Sunday, October 16 at the World of Montgomery Festival in downtown Wheaton and wraps up on Community Service Day on Saturday, October 22.
To help the public obtain information about Community Service Week and how individuals, community groups, businesses, schools, churches and families can get involved, free sessions are being held in the coming weeks according to the following schedule:
Saturday, September 10, from 11 a.m. to noon, Rockville Memorial Library, 21 Maryland Ave.
Wednesday, September 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place
Thursday, September 22 from noon to 1 p.m., Bethesda Green, 4825 Cordell Ave.
Saturday, September 24 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Eastern Montgomery Regional Services
Center, 3300 Briggs Chaney Rd., Silver Spring and
Sunday, October 2 from 3 to 4 p.m., Germantown Library, 19840 Century Blvd.
Community Service Day is one of the Volunteer Center’s three Seasons of Service days created to encourage volunteering and the spirit of giving among county residents.
