Traffic updates for Medical Center area of Bethesda

Road and pedestrian safety projects that could affect travel to and through Bethesda in the vicinity of Bethesda Naval Hospital and NIH:

BATTERY LANE, FROM ROCKVILLE PIKE TO OLD GEORGETOWN ROAD: 
A resurfacing project along Battery Lane will begin May 9, 2011, and should be completed within three to four weeks, weather permitting.   Work will be done in off-peak hours.

CEDAR LANE / ROCK CREEK BRIDGE: 
Construction continues along Cedar Lane where it crosses over Rock Creek.  This is a bridge replacement project that includes the addition of a wide bike/pedestrian path.  The entire project should be completed by the end of November, 2011, weather permitting.
 BE ADVISED THAT THE CEDAR LANE BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED from June 17 through August 4, 2011 -- when schools are not in session.  Be prepared -- plan an alternate route!

OLD GEORGETOWN ROAD, FROM WISCONSIN AVENUE TO BROOK LANE:
 A resurfacing and sidewalk replacement project is under way along Old Georgetown Road.  It should be completed by the end of June 2011, weather permitting.

WISCONSIN AVENUE RESURFACING PROJECTS:
 A resurfacing project on Wisconsin Avenue from the DC Line to Bradley Boulevard will commence after July 4th, 2011, to be completed by the end of March 2012, weather permitting.
 A resurfacing project on Wisconsin Avenue from Montgomery Avenue to Jones Bridge Road will commence in September 2011, to be completed by the end of August 2012, weather permitting.
